Hi! I’m Amy and I’m an American Registered Dietitian currently living in Zurich, Switzerland. I’ve been a dietitian for almost 20 years (really?!…that long???). Over the years I’ve worked as a clinical dietitian in a large multi-centered hospital, worked as the regional dietitian for an amazing group of health clubs, owned a private practice working with clients from all over the world, and even had a fun, albeit short stint at a large university working with dietetic graduate students to complete their internships.

The common thread throughout all of these jobs is my love of nutrition education and working with clients who share my love of all things food. I really do find joy in seeing a client’s face light up when they learn something new about nutrition. It means I have given them a tool to improve their health.

But another thing that fulfills me is helping clients connect (or reconnect) with food in a way that is nourishing and happy. Too many of us struggle with the day to day chatter about nutrition and food in general. Eat this! Not that! Are eggs good for me? What about ultra processed foods? It’s exhausting…and not necessary.

Over the past year, I’ve come to a point in my practice as a dietitian where I’ve come to grips with what many of us in the healthcare space are struggling to admit…our education and guidance has always been incorrectly focused mainly on weight rather then the whole picture of health. Focusing only on the scale has resulted in people feeling defeated and worn out. And, unfortunately, sicker. It doesn’t have to be this way.

Over the years, I have focused more on my clients whole picture of health including their diet, their diet history, their physical activity, and their social connections. This has led to my recent training as a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor. Have you ever made the decision to do something that is more in line with your values and thought, “Yes! This feels right! This is what I want my clients to feel, as well as all of the humans in my life.” To learn more about my journey and what Intuitive Eating is, you can read the blog post here.
